Erdoğan Atalay was born in Hanover, Germany, on September 22, 1966 to a Turkish father and a German mother.

All began with visting a theatre and then a minor role as ghost in the lamp in "Aladin". Than Erdoğan took up acting classes at "Hochschule fuer Musik und darstellende Kunst" [School For Music And Performing Arts) in Hamburg in 1984.

After guest starring in various TV movies and series Erdoğan landed the leading role of Detective Superintendent "Semir Gerkhan" in the hit series "Alarm fuer Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei" ["Alarm for Cobra 11 - The Autobahn Cops"] in 1995. "Cobra 11" has an average of over 6 million viewers per show. The highest rating was in March 2003 with 8.03 million viewers.

Erdoğan will probably go on playing "Semir Gerkhan".

To learn more about the work of the real highway patrol Erdoğan walked along with them in the police car, watched to arresting and learned to use a wappon before beginning of the shooting. ("TV Serien" 1996)

In 1997, Erdoğan played the part of a young Turkish man named "Sabri" in the ZDF production "Sperling und der falsche Freund" [Sperling And The False Friend]. After being beaten up, Sabri gets acquainted with Superintendent Sperling who eventually realizes that Sabri is involved in a shady prostitution ring. For more information click >> here

Besides working as an actor, Erdoğan was also one of the speakers of three radio plays produced by the NDR: "Am Hoffnungsberg" [On the Mountain of Hope] (1992) (see >> here), "An der Klagemauer" [At The Wailing Wall] (1993) and "Schwarze Welle 13" [Black Wave No. 13] (1995). In 1998, he took part in the SFB-ORB radio play "Der Schwester Schatten" [In The Sister's Shadow] by Inka Bach.

In 2000, Erdoğan read the part of "Hakan" for the audiobook "Liebesmale, Scharlachrot" (published by Hoffmann & Campe).

And he wrote a story for book "Was lebst du ?", a collection of stories by some Turk artists living in Germany.

In addition to all these activities, Erdoğan got involved in a project called "We are all alike inside". Together with other actors and in cooperation with World Vision he spoke out against Xenophobia. è www.weareallalikeinside.com

Actionconcept participated in the RTL Spendenmarathon 2000 charity with actors Jens Nünemann, Sven Martinek and Erdoğan Atalay answering telephone calls after each call for donations. In 2003 Erdoğan Atalay participated rather unobstrusively in this annual charity. This time, he and his acting partner Christian Oliver helped to man the telephone switchboard.

In November 2004 and 2005 Erdoğan and René Steinke were present at RTL Charity again.

In the beginning of 2003 Erdoğan was the guest of two charity events: He worked as a waiter for "Star Cuisine" (vox Kochduell) in Cologne on January 14 with all profits going to UNICEF. On March 15, 2003 Erdoğan was interviewed and read during the Crime Night in Cologne "Moerderisches Vergnuegen" which was held in the DomForum (profits were going to Mukoviszidose e.V.).

Erdoğan has marry his longtime girlfriend, actress Astrid Ann Marie Pollmann, on August 13, 2004. Their daughter was born in 2002.

In spring 2010 info were published that Erdoğan and Ann are seperated after elven years now.

Astrid Ann-Marie portrayed a doctor in the "Cobra 11" episode "Schachmatt" [Checkmate] and a nun in the episode "Ein tiefer Fall" [A Deep Fall]. Another appearance together with Erdoğan was in the movie "Maximum Speed" where she played a receptionist.

Erdoğan enjoys athletic activisites such as horseback riding, stage sword fighting, acrobatics, shooting, diving and parachuting. He does many of the "Cobra 11" stunts himself, for example jumping off the Messeturm (Fair Tower) in Cologne in "Cobra 11" episode "Liebe bis in den Tod" [Love Until Death] as well as repeatedly hanging off a helicopter - to use his own words.

In August 2003 he drove together with actress Birgit Stauber at Shakedown of "ADAC Eifel Rallye".

By the way, he is owner of a 28 years old mare named "Babode".

In April 2005 Erdoğan did a course for racing licence at Race Concept and his enthusiam was "without limit".

Erdoğan is also a scriptwriter. He was one of the writers for the "Cobra 11" episode "Schachmatt" [Checkmate]. Together with Torsten Buchsteiner he has written a script for a movie named "Ali Baba" in 2002. Some new projects and articles are in preparation at the time.

Meanwhile Erdoğan has also worked as a director by production "Neulich".
