A terrible tornado races across Kansas. People rush
into their storm shelters. Only the girl Dorothy runs back into the house to
fetch her doll. Just at that moment the storm lifts up the house and takes it
away, with the girl inside. Eventually, the house touches down with a loud
bang; killing an evil witch in the process. Dorothy has reached the magical
country of Oz, far away from the world she knows and she wants to go home.
Therefore she goes on a long and dangerous journey through the magical country
to reach the mighty wizard of Oz in the Emerald City. He shall help her to
overcome the endless deserts that surround the land Oz and get back home.
On the road she
makes great friends - a scarecrow without a mind, a tin
man without a heart and a lion without courage. The three accompany
her gladly, because they hope the wizard of Oz will fulfil their most ardent
wishes: the scarecrow hopes for a mind, the tin
man wishes for a heart and the lion dreams of courage. But on their
perilous journey it becomes obvious that they already have what they desire.
They just never believed in it…
